We are thrilled to announce that the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus has been selected by the public to be this year’s Organization Community Grand Marshal for San Francisco Pride. Thank you to all who voted for us – this is a huge honor!

Music and activism, recognized by the community

The San Francisco Bay Times named SFGMC as the 2017 Community Grand Marshal in the organization category, selected by public vote. Its announcement highlighted the chorus’s nearly four decades of musical achievement and activism.

The honor came as San Francisco prepared for its 47th annual Pride celebration on June 24–25, 2017, with the parade on Sunday, June 25. The Bay Times also reported that a resistance contingent would lead the parade, placing the celebration in a wider moment of organizing for LGBTQ equality.
