On June 18, 2024, the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus joined the San Francisco Symphony at Davies Symphony Hall for All We Need Is Love, a highlight of Season 46, the Season of Love. Artistic Director Jacob Stensberg conducted more than 300 singers.
The program
BroadwayWorld’s Steve Murray reported that the evening opened with David Conte’s “Elegy for Matthew,” honoring Matthew Shepard, and that Michael Tilson Thomas was in the hall to hear his own “I’d Like to Learn.” The program also included Ty Defoe’s “We Are the Trees,” “I, Too, Sing America,” Sia’s “Elastic Heart,” Calum Scott’s “Biblical,” a world premiere by Dominick DiOrio, and “Comme d’habitude” with guest vocalist Enrico Lagasca.
FSHN Magazine also noted Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs, “True Colors” and Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Cut to the Feeling,” with the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Company, HomoPhonics and The Lollipop Guild joining in.
