Four ensembles from San Francisco, Los Angeles and Portland came together for Shine On: An Ensemble Showcase. SFGMC’s HomoPhonics and The Lollipop Guild shared the stage with Aftershock from the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles and Cascade from the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus.
Two recordings from the showcase preserve that collaboration: “The Place to Be” by The Scarlet Opera and the finale, “Shine,” written by Ed Roland of Collective Soul.
“The Place to Be”
The featured video brings the four groups together for a song about belonging and making room for people to be themselves. SFGMC shared the recording in its July 17, 2026 newsletter.
Watch the Finale: “Shine”
The ensembles reunited for “Shine” to close the showcase. This performance was shared in the July 23 newsletter.

More From the Showcase
Three more performances from Shine On. HomoPhonics joined Aftershock from the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles for “Angel Down,” and all four ensembles came together for “Unwritten” as the encore.
Before the Show: “Higher Love”
HomoPhonics shared this performance ahead of the showcase to invite audiences to come see them with The Lollipop Guild, Cascade and Aftershock.
