In 1994, SFGMC toured to Boston for a joint performance with the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus at Symphony Hall. The concert, Origins & Visions, took place on Friday, March 18, with SFGMC music director Stan Hill and Boston Gay Men’s Chorus music director Robert Barney.

The visit is part of the chorus’s history of building relationships through shared performances.

Part of an earlier touring tradition

Boston had already been a stop on SFGMC’s nine-city national tour in 1981, according to the San Francisco Bay Times’ anniversary history. The 1994 visit returned the Chorus to that city during Stan Hill’s tenure as artistic director, which ran from 1989 to 2000.
