Joseph Jennings served as SFGMC’s guest conductor from September through December 1998, during Dr. Stan Hill’s tenure.

A countertenor, conductor and arranger, Jennings joined Chanticleer in 1983 and became its music director, serving until 2008. His gospel, spiritual and jazz arrangements helped shape the ensemble’s repertoire. He also directed Golden Gate Men’s Chorus from 1996 to 2009, connecting his SFGMC guest engagement to a wider legacy in San Francisco choral music.
